When you push a new release, how do you even know whether the experience actually improved or regressed? And compared to what? Your app install base spans devices, networks, and real-world conditions you'll never replicate in testing. User adoption of new releases is staggered, so the longer your app has been around, the more versions of it are out there at once. This talk is about the gap between the app you built and the app your users are experiencing. We'll look at where performance hides in a React Native codebase, how to determine whether the version you shipped this morning is performing on par or better than the others still out there, and how to take that same data and use it to improve your app. If you've ever shipped a release and felt quietly uneasy for the next 24 hours, this one's for you.
